Do you wonder what are the differences between living in a house or apartment? in this article i share My Opinion About Living in a House vs. Apartment based on personal experience
Today I want to talk about a very favorite topic of mine. It is about living in an apartment or in a house, which is better? Very often I have discussions about this with my friends and everyone seems genuinely interested.
The main thing I want to emphasize before we start is that people’s perceptions are very different and preferences between living in an apartment or a house are strictly individual and subjective.
In this article, I will share with you my opinion about living in a house vs. apartment based on personal experiences. Having lived in both, I think I could give you some good arguments and you can share your thoughts in the comments.
My Opinion About Living in a House vs. Apartment
Living in a House
I have lived in a house for most of my life and have been able to experience the good and the not-so-good sides of it. To begin with, I want to make it clear that the house provides many comforts such as silence and a pleasant atmosphere, which is sometimes a luxury when living in an apartment.
In the summer, staying in the garden and enjoying the greenery around is a real paradise. Another nice thing about houses is that in most cases you have your own space to park your car and you don’t have to waste time searching for an empty park slot. The house without a doubt offers more space and privacy compared to the apartment.
Another positive side of living in a house is the convenience and peace of mind when raising children. I grew up in a house where I played carelessly in the garden until dawn. The house with a yard also allows for the easy raising of pets, farm animals and the cultivation of the tastiest vegetables and fruits. If you are a person who wants to live a life closer to nature, a house with a yard is a very suitable solution.
Regarding the interior design, it does not differ in many ways from the furnishing process of an apartment. You decorate the rooms as you see fit so that you feel at home. However, you should take care also of the roof, the fence, the garden paths, etc.
This requires a bigger budget. Additionally, large houses are much more difficult and time-consuming to clean. Taking care of the garden is not an easy job either, especially if you grow your food.
But I will always prefer living in a house because the privacy that I get is very important to me. I cannot describe the joy I feel when I sit in the garden with a glass of chilled wine on a pleasant summer evening. It is the best feeling to enjoy the flowers, the animals and the overall atmosphere.
The winter times ain’t that bad either, it’s just my least favorite season, but the beautiful view of the garden covered with white fluffy snow is amazing. Inside it is warm and you are drinking hot chocolate. These are moments and emotions that are remembered forever and that is why I adore the house so much.
Living in an Apartment
I have been living in apartments for the past 6-7 years. Last year, we bought our apartment. The impressions I have had over the years are very mixed, but with our own apartment, things are different.
Over the years I have lived in many rented apartments and each one of them is special to me. However, in this post, I want to talk mainly about life in our apartment. Living in a flat is very different from living in a house. Many people enter through the same doors, live under the same roof, and in most cases do not even know or greet each other. People living on the other side of the street can see what you are doing through the windows. It’s not a pleasant experience.
Maybe I don’t like the level of privacy and that the noises from other apartments don’t stop. Sometimes when I work at home for which I need concentration and silence, but unfortunately, the people who do repairs don’t care about this haha. But living in an apartment also has many positives, such as the fact that cleaning is done much faster, there is no garden to take care of, and you have more time to do whatever you want.
I am not a fan of keeping a pet in a flat, but many people have no problems with it. This means the apartment isn’t an obstacle to owning pets if you wish. For some people, like me, it always happens that I don’t have a place to park. Most of the time I park my car 100/200m away from the building. This creates a lot of discomforts, especially when I have to carry heavy bags. Another thing I dislike is when someone is cooking something… I can smell it too!
In conclusion, I want to say that living in an apartment and a house is very convenient for some aspects and inconvenient for others. The question is what you can and are willing to compromise. The most important thing is to be happy in your home with your loved ones.
