Hey all! My name is Julia, former college student and a home decor enthusiast who loves DIY home improvement projects and finding creative ways to decorate any living spaces on a budget. Recently moved from my dorm to my new apartment which I renovated from scratch and I am here to help you with tips & tricks about home decor/college and more 🙂

I’ve said (only half joking) that if I ever ran the calendar, I’d declare a national “Messy Middle Appreciation Day” for renovators—one sanctioned pause to sort the lists, wrangle the samples, and breathe. Anyway! Meet Georgie & Michael—plus Bee, the “Reno Rottweiler”—who are smack in the satisfying-but-chaotic chapter of reviving a 110-year-old Edwardian in the Midlands. Not a reveal, not a before; the during, in all its dusty glory (and yes, decisions get remixed—paint has moods, IMHO).
Their compass is simple and steady: keep the character, shape spaces that feel like home, move at a pace that respects the house. Could they sprint? Maybe! Should they? Hard pass—thoughtful beats fast every time. Expect honest check-ins, small wins that stack, and choices designed to age well rather than trend hard. For day-to-day peeks between posts, follow along on Instagram (@georgieandmichael) and YouTube (@georgie.and.michael). If you’re here for the long game with heart, you’re in the right place—let’s step into their story.
Who We Are:

We’re Georgie & Michael, along with our fur baby Bee (better known as the Reno Rottweiler). Together, we’ve embarked on an exciting journey to renovate a 110-year-old Edwardian home, bringing it back to life after years of neglect.
By day, Georgie works in Luxury Home Sales and Michael is a Quantity Surveyor for new home developments — so property has always been a huge passion for both of us, both professionally and personally.
We first stepped onto the property ladder in 2020 with a new-build two-bedroom terrace. It was a great start, but deep down we knew we wanted to take on a bigger challenge — to create something truly our own. In 2023, we completed our very first flip project, which gave us a taste of renovating as a team — and we absolutely loved it!
Fast forward just one year, we found a characterful Edwardian home that needed everything restoring. We fell head over heels and did absolutely everything we could to secure it from the previous owner. In March 2025, we officially got the keys and the real adventure began!
The Project:

Our home is around 110 years old, full of charm, history, and incredible bones. It’s a five-bedroom semi-detached property, sitting on just under a third of an acre in the Midlands.
Of course, it also came with plenty of challenges: an overgrown garden, a roof in disrepair, and issues throughout that needed serious attention. This isn’t just a quick makeover — this is a full restoration, and we’re determined to do it properly, with love, care, and respect for the home’s history.
What Sparked the Change:

We’ve always dreamed of renovating our own home from scratch, creating something that reflects our vision and feels completely “us.” Both of us love learning new skills and pushing ourselves, so taking on a renovation project felt like the perfect way to grow while building our dream home.
At 29 (Georgie) and 31 (Michael), we’re also starting to think about building a family, so moving into a long-term home with space to grow became a big priority. Just as importantly, we wanted a home with a beautiful garden where Bee could run free and enjoy the sunshine.
Challenges Along the Way:

Wow — where do we start? Like most old homes, ours came with more hidden issues than we first expected. We’ve faced:
- A complete new drainage system
- Wood rot in the roof
- Woodworm in some of the floorboards

And, of course, the fact that we’re not trained tradespeople means we’ve had to learn so many new skills on the go. Renovating has required patience, time, and a lot of determination — but every challenge has made the journey even more rewarding.
The Journey So Far:
Despite the obstacles, we’re falling in love with this home more and more each day. We’re so grateful for the lessons we’re learning, and even more thankful to be creating something so special together.
Our family and friends have been incredibly supportive, and along the way we’ve built a wonderful community on YouTube and Instagram who cheer us on and share the journey with us. Their encouragement keeps us motivated, inspired, and accountable as we continue turning this Edwardian beauty into the dream family home we always imagined.
