Hey all! My name is Julia, former college student and a home decor enthusiast who loves DIY home improvement projects and finding creative ways to decorate any living spaces on a budget. Recently moved from my dorm to my new apartment which I renovated from scratch and I am here to help you with tips & tricks about home decor/college and more 🙂

In this post, I’ll share with you how I transformed my old kitchen into a cozy bedroom (with before and after images).

How I Transformed My Kitchen Into a Bedroom

In this blog post, I will show you how I transformed an old kitchen into a luxurious and cozy bedroom.

When I bought my new apartment we had to change the layout of the rooms and tear down some walls. We combined 2 separate rooms into a living room with a kitchen.

Of course, I needed also a bedroom, but the only original room left was the kitchen. So, we got down to business!

How I Transformed My Old Kitchen into a New Bedroom

1. The Old Kitchen Before the Transformation

Oh boy, transforming a kitchen into a bedroom was an ambitious project because it turned out to be more challenging than expected…

I had no idea how complicated it is to swap rooms that are set aside for specialized use. You can see what the old kitchen looked like in the images below.

Just wait till you see my new bedroom… I promise you that you will be impressed when you see the transformation between these first pictures and the last ones.

2. The First Steps

We had to tear the old kitchen down and make some big changes to the layout. Some of the tasks were to smash the sink and remove all of the pipes.

Moreover, there was also an unnecessary second door that led to the previous bedroom that was now merged into our new living room. Therefore, we walled it up.

Step by step the kitchen was transforming into the bedroom I wanted, but there was still a lot of work to be done.

3. Time for the Fundamental Design

Once we were done with the major changes, it was time for the interior design – my favorite part! For the floor, I decided to put 60/120 white marble tiles like in the rest of the apartment.

The color I chose for the ceiling is white, and for the wall – beige, just like the color in the living room.

I decided to paint the bedroom’s walls the same color because of two main reasons. Firstly, I don’t like very colorful home designs. Secondly, I wanted all rooms to be in the same shades. I think it turned out wonderful, don’t you think?

After we laid the tiles and painted the room, it was finally time for the furniture, and I want to point out that the decor in the bedroom is not ready yet at all, but I wanted to share with you how far I have come.

4. Now Everything Is Falling into Place

For the bedroom, I opted for furniture in dark gray, and then I chose to combine it with white. I started with the bed, which is my favorite part of the apartment because I love to refill my batteries with a good night’s sleep.

To be honest, I always wanted a bed with a large soft headboard, and after some searching in the stores…I found it. After I decorated it with some lights, it turned out great, do you agree?

The wardrobe – is a woman’s best friend but also her worst enemy. I can never put my older clothes away, and this is a problem. So I solved it by buying a very big wardrobe.

It is completely gray with sliding doors to save some space and there are also decorative lights above them. How cool is that?

5. My New Bedroom Is Finally Finished

In the photos below you can see what my new bedroom looks like after the challenging transformation. It took us a long time and lots of effort, but the result is amazing and entirely worth it!

I put also a chest of drawers and two bedside tables which are in a combination of white and gray. Regarding the quality, I’m not very happy, there is more to be desired, but at this stage, they are doing fine.

Also, what do you think about the bed sheets? I find them very sweet!

The curtains are the same as in the living room. I am very happy with them and their complete blackout. This allows me to sleep comfortably even during the day when it is sunny outside.

In the photos, you can see a dressing table too. I have to get a mirror for that, but I still can’t find what I want.

As for some smaller decorations in the room, I have a pretty good idea, but I need some more time to gather the necessary materials.

My favorite part of the bedroom…Enjoy watching your favorite movies with this projector for home cinema.

At this point, this is the bedroom of my new apartment, I hope to show you the finished version of it soon. I am very proud that I managed to transform an old kitchen into this.😊

So apparently you can fall in love with a house th So apparently you can fall in love with a house that doesn’t even have walls yet..... is that a thing or just me? 😂

(concrete floors / muddy footprints / pipes sticking out of nowhere)
It’s giving: 30% chaos, 30% rain, 40% “trust the process”.

I walk through the entrance like “ok, future me, remember this” - the half bath that is just pipes, the laundry that’s still a puzzle, the pantry door where groceries will sneak in, the living room that already feels like movie night even though it’s basically a skeleton.

Then there’s the terrace view. You step out and suddenly all the noise, dirt, rain = background. Hills, trees, sky...... kind of looks like a desktop wallpaper that hasn’t fully loaded yet but I’m obsessed.

Upstairs via LADDER (gym membership who?) to bedroom / office / bedroom combo. One room for sleep, one room for work, one room for views that are honestly doing 90% of the emotional support right now.

(save this for the “before” / next time we’ll hopefully have stairs and less mud) 💭🏡✨

Second floor - DONE! ✅ I can’t even begin to tell Second floor - DONE! ✅

I can’t even begin to tell you how giddy I am right now (bursting-at-the-seams kind of excited, you know?). The moment is finally here and I get to share it with YOU my ride-or-dies! ☀️

First of all... can we talk about how the house is finally starting to look like an actual house?! (Like, is this real life or am I manifesting too hard?) And second — THE VIEW. OMG. The kind of view that makes you go “okayyyy, the wait was WORTH IT.” 📸🛠️

And yes, we kept going through the doom-and-gloom weather and the monsoon-level rain because... what’s that saying? When it rains, it pours — but make it aesthetic, right?!(Honestly, who do we think we are?) 🪜

So stay tuned, besties... the transformation era is just getting started. ✨

Babes, my hands are literally shaking (from excite Babes, my hands are literally shaking (from excitement… and maybe too much coffee, who knows?). 😅 I can’t even — the first floor of our house is DONE!!! Like, DONE done. Everything’s moving so fast I swear my brain can’t keep up (is this what adulting feels like?).

Two days ago we had nothing but an empty foundation, and now? All the rooms are just… THERE. Magic?? Nope — just the dream team working faster than I can say “where did my Virgo perfectionism go?” 👀

They were so quick and organized that even I — yes, Miss Overplanner 101 — was impressed. In just a few hours the house started sprouting like a mushroom (in the best way possible 🍄✨).

I’m honestly screaming — can’t wait to see what’s next. (Walls? Windows? My Pinterest board finally coming to life???) Stay tuned, because this is getting REAL. 🏡💖
We’re BACK in the game (like, for real this time 💃 We’re BACK in the game (like, for real this time 💃). The next brigade showed up looking all fresh, fired up, and ready to slay! ☕🔥 We literally started by lifting the house (yes, you heard that right — the HOUSE 😳), and from there it’s been non-stop thrills on thrills.

Everything’s picking up pace, the vibes are ✨ immaculate ✨, and honestly? It feels like something BIG is coming (manifesting it, okay?). So buckle up, grab your iced coffee, and stay tuned — this week’s about to be a wild ride. 💖🏗️👀
Besties… some days just hit different, you know? 😏 Besties… some days just hit different, you know? 😏 There are days when life feels like a Pinterest board come to life — and then there’s last week. (Oh boy.) It poured for days — like, actual biblical-level rain, no joke — and the streets? FLOODED. 🌧️🌊 Ours too (of course… because why not?). We’ve been basically living in a mini Venice over here. But today — finally — we managed to drain some of the water (cue dramatic happy tears). 🥹💧 So yeah… the party’s back on, soggy shoes and all. Because if life gives you floods… grab a towel and keep dancing, right? 💃✨
